“Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, is changing its service rates in accordance with a decision by the Energy and Water Regulatory

Commission. By Decision No. C-36 of December 19,12, 2025, of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), the updated prices for water and sewerage services in the country were announced, approved for implementation as of January 1, 2026. The update is in connection with the business plans for the water utility’s development and operations, as approved by the EWRC. The change in water and sewer service rates is necessary to cover the company’s operating expenses, including salaries, social security contributions, electricity, as well as to implement the investment program, whose main goal is to improve the quality and reliability of water supply and sewerage services.
In early 2026, “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, decided to temporarily postpone the introduction of the new rates in order to adapt to the new currency—the euro.
In 2025, “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, invested more than 15 million leva of its own funds in improving the quality of water and sewerage services in the Burgas region.
For 2026, “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, in accordance with the company’s business plan approved by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), plans to invest nearly 8,000,000 € in public assets, distributed as follows:
Burgas Municipality – 2,600,000 €
; Nessebar Municipality – 1,000,000 €; Pomorie Municipality
– 400,000 €
; Sozopol Municipality – €400,000 Municipality
of Primorsko – €300,000 Municipality
of Tsarevo – €300,000 Municipality
of Malko Tarnovo – €200,000 Municipality
of Sredets – 200,000 €Karnobat Municipality
– 250,000 €Kameno Municipality

amount includes:
repair of the emergency pumping station at the Kamchia Dam, ensuring uninterrupted water supply during low water levels in the dam;
complete reconstruction of the “Vaya” wastewater treatment plant in Burgas, which will treat wastewater from the Kraimorie neighborhood and Zone “D” of the Meden Rudnik residential complex;
repair of the water intake tower at the “Aheloy” Dam;
repair of the spillway at the “Novo Panicharevo” Reservoir;
replacement of 5,000 m of water mains and 1,000 m of sewer lines in the city of Burgas;
replacement of 6,000 m of water mains in the other municipalities served by the company;
repair of 40 pressure reservoirs;
repair of 90 water intakes.

In light of the current situation, “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, is implementing the updated prices for water and sewer services effective March 1, 2026, as follows:

Water Supply and Sewerage“ EAD, Burgas, is postponing the implementation of the approved higher rates for drinking water supply and wastewater disposal pursuant to Decision No. C-36 of December 19, 2025.
The planned increase will not take effect as of January 1, 2026, in order to provide the necessary transition period for a smoother adaptation to the new conditions.
The prices for water supply to consumers and wastewater disposal, approved by Decision No. C-30 of December 19, 2024, of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), as well as the lower price for wastewater treatment, approved by EWRC Decision No. C-36 of December 19, 2025, as follows:
