Marinka Wastewater Treatment Plant

In 2014, the Municipality of Burgas is implementing a project titled “Design and Construction of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the village of Marinka, Municipality of Burgas.” The project was carried out with financial support from the Ministry of Environment and Water through the Enterprise for the Management of Environmental Protection Activities. The total project budget amounted to 2,070,962 BGN. The plant was commissioned in 2018 and has been transferred to “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, for management, maintenance, and operation.
The “Marinka” WWTP treats wastewater from the village of Marinka. The plant’s design capacity is 1,180 PE and a hydraulic load of 259 m³/d, or an annual water volume of 94,608 m³/y.

The main treatment process takes place in the following facilities:
• coarse screen, sand trap, denitrification zone, nitrification zone;
• secondary clarifier;
• chemical treatment plant;
• sludge thickener, belt filter press with screw conveyor, flocculant system with dosing pumps.

The treated wastewater from the WWTP is discharged into the Marinka River.
