Veselie Wastewater Treatment Plant

In 2013, the Municipality of Primorsko is implementing a project titled: “Reconstruction of the water supply network, construction of sewer collectors, and a wastewater treatment plant in the village of Veselie.” The project was carried out with a grant from the “State Agriculture Fund.” The total project budget amounted to 7,000,000 BGN. The plant was put into operation in 2016. The treatment plant has been transferred by the municipality to “Water Supply and Sewerage” EAD, Burgas, for management, maintenance, and operation.
The “Veselie” WWTP treats wastewater from the village of Veselie. The plant’s design capacity is 800 PE and a hydraulic load of 130 m³/d, or an annual water volume of 47,450 m³/y.

The main treatment process takes place in the following facilities:
• primary treatment—collection tank, sand and grease trap, screen, selector;
• biological treatment—biological tank with pneumatic aeration, denitrification tank, secondary clarifiers, microfilter, rapid self-cleaning sand filters for wastewater post-treatment, wastewater disinfection;
• aerobic stabilizer and mechanical dewatering of excess activated sludge using a chamber filter press.

The treated wastewater from the WWTP is discharged into a stream that flows into the Mehmedzhenska River, a left tributary of the Ropotamo River.
